Many young football players grow up with hopes and dreams of playing in the NFL.
Achieving this accomplishment is a feat that very few people can do, and it’s one of the most prestigious leagues to break into.
Playing in the league is something that athletes don’t take lightly, and they tend to soak up as much football as they can while they’re in the NFL, as there’s no telling how long their careers might last.
Making it to the league might be one thing, but considering players train their whole lives for that hopeful moment, they might not always think about backup plans or what their life could look like after football.
Some enter the coaching ranks, others find a job in the media, while still others leave the field entirely, opening themselves to whatever else the world has to offer.
Coaching is a great avenue for these former players to stay connected to the game and for a former star running back like Clinton Portis, becoming a coach is a great way to give back.
It was recently announced that Portis is going to be the run game coordinator for Delaware State, joining DeSean Jackson in what has turned into a star-studded coaching staff.

Both of these men had impressive resumes in the NFL, and they certainly have a lot to share with the next generation of football players.
Delaware State might not be a powerhouse now, or perhaps ever, but at least their players will get an opportunity to learn from two of the greats from the past two decades of the NFL.
