The Denver Broncos arguably have had one of the best offseasons of any team in the NFL as they’ve addressed several of their needs on both sides of the ball.
After reaching the playoffs last season, the Broncos are primed to make another leap, and it starts on offense with budding star Bo Nix.
The quarterback was considered an afterthought in the 2024 NFL Draft because of the other highly touted prospects in his class, but he outplayed expectations and looks the part of a franchise QB.
With Nix heading into year two with head coach Sean Payton, Denver wisely invested in giving him more weapons.
The Broncos signed tight end Evan Engram as a free agent, providing Nix a reliable intermediate target when he feels pressure.
Although Engram has yet to suit up alongside Nix, he believes the young quarterback is a legitimate threat as a passer.
“He has everything that it takes to be great in this league,” Engram said, via DNVR Sports. “The biggest thing that stood out to me was his presence in the pocket. He’s very calm, very collected. When the pocket does break down, the plays he can make on his feet while having his eyes downfield is something that you have to continue to put great talent around because that is a weapon. That is a true weapon.”
Nix plays like a veteran, calmly going through his options before using either his arm or legs to escape pressure.
Those traits make building an offense much easier, and it’ll be exciting to see how well Nix and Engram work together next season.
