Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady has started a second career as a color commentator for FOX, and after some early jitters has done well and seems to have the potential to end up being very good.

But the fact that he became a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders presented a problem, as it created a potential conflict of interest in his roles.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell recently commented on that perception.

“Tom has been incredibly cooperative. He calls frequently about it and says, ‘Am I doing OK?’ I think he’s serious that he separates the two and doesn’t put the league or anyone in a position of conflict,” Goodell said, via JPAFootball

Brady, who earned seven Super Bowl championships during his playing career, and play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt will call Super Bowl LIX.

Due to his role with the Raiders, Brady has been forbidden by the NFL from attending production meetings with any other team and having access to its players, coaches or facilities.

There have been sports broadcasters and commentators who were concurrently involved as an owner of a team, but this may be the most high-profile example of such a situation.

The Raiders have made the playoffs twice since losing the Super Bowl in the 2002 season, but perhaps there is a glimmer of hope now that they have hired Pete Carroll to be their head coach.
