On Friday, it was announced that the Jacksonville Jaguars are hiring James Gladstone to be their new general manager, and it is hoped that he will make them competitive again after two rough seasons.
Gladstone had been with the Los Angeles Rams’ front office in multiple capacities starting in 2016, and during that time, he had a hand in the team going from missing the playoffs in his first season to winning the Super Bowl championship five years later.
Jourdan Rodrigue feels Gladstone will help the Jaguars excel in one phase of team-building: drafting well, per 1010 XL / 92.5 FM.

After winning it all in 2021, the Rams won just five games in 2022, and it looked like they would be in for a rough rebuilding process.
But they have drafted well over the last couple of years, and in doing so, they have brought in young studs such as wide receiver Puka Nacua, running back Kyren Williams and pass rushers Kobie Turner, Jared Verse and Braden Fiske.
As a result, Los Angeles has won 10 games and made the playoffs in both of the last two years.
Jacksonville, meanwhile, went 3-14 in 2024, and their success late in 2022 when they won their final five regular season games and overcame a 27-0 deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers in the wild-card round of the playoffs is now a distant memory.
They have a solid but expensive and possibly overpaid quarterback in Trevor Lawrence and a possible star in wide receiver Brian Thomas, but they have multiple roster needs, especially on defense.
The Jaguars will have the No. 5 pick in the upcoming NFL draft, and overall, they will have 10 picks this year.
